The first of the 2011 preseason college football publications have hit newsstands around the country.
UW-Whitewater, the two-time defending National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III national champions, top both the Sporting News and Lindy's Sports Division III Top 25 preseason polls.
The Sporting News Top 5:
1: UW-Whitewater
2: Mount Union (Ohio)
3: Wesley (Delaware)
4: St. Thomas (Minnesota)
5: Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas)
Lindy’s Top 5:
1: UW-Whitewater
2: Mount Union (Ohio)
3: Wesley (Delaware)
4. Bethel (Minnesota)
5: Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas)
While preseason rankings are great for marketing one’s football program, Warhawk fans learned long ago that the only ranking that REALLY counts is the ranking AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
UW-Whitewater and Mount Union have met in the last six Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl national championship games in Salem, Virginia.
The Hawks are the two-time defending NCAA Division III national champions with UWW and UMU each winning three times in the six consecutive Stagg Bowl meetings.
