A suffocating defensive effort and some solid play from it’s No. 2 quarterback carried the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to a 24-3 thumping of UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Ralph E. Davis Stadium.
The victory, which surpasses the team’s win total of each of the last three seasons, sets up a huge showdown next week for the 25th-ranked Titans (5-1, 3-0). The top-ranked and unbeaten UW-Whitewater Warhawks will invade J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium for UWO’s annual homecoming game.
It was a win that could prove costly, though.
Standout quarterback Nate Wara left the game after being tackled on a running play late in the second quarter with an unspecified injury and did not return. At the time, Wara had completed 8-of-12 passes and ran for 49 yards.
Titan head coach Pat Cerroni tells the Oshkosh Northwestern that he hopes Wara will be ready to face Whitewater next Saturday.
