1st Round NCAA Division III Football Playoff Results
UW-Whitewater rolls over Franklin 52-21 -UW-Whitewater backup quarterback Lee Brekke, playing for injured QB Matt Blanchard, finished 23 of 30 for 292 yards and four touchdowns leading the defending national champions to a 52-21 NCAA Division III opening round win over Franklin College. The Warhawks will host Trine University next Saturday in a round-two North Central bracket matchup.

Trine outscores DePauw 45-35 - Trine University held on for a 45-35 victory over DePauw in NCAA Division III Playoff action. Trine jumped out in front of DePauw 27-7 in the first quarter only to see the Tigers roar back and take a 28-27 lead with 2:46 left in the third quarter. The Thunder answered with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Eric Watt to Ja Vontae Hence to regain the lead. DePauw pulled even again on Michael Engle touchdown pass to Alex Koors but Trine scored 10 points on its next two drives to pull ahead for good. .

North Central Crushes St. Norbert, 57-7 - Scoring on their first nine possessions, the North Central College football team leaped into the postseason on Saturday. The Cardinals came out firing on all cylinders, dismantling St. Norbert College (Wis.), 57-7, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Ohio Northern Thumps Wittenberg, 37-14 - No. 7-ranked Ohio Northern picked off a school-record seven interceptions and posted a 37-14 victory over Wittenberg in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
