There has been a lot of talk recently about WIAC football programs having difficulty in scheduling non-conference games. With that said, Week No. 2 of 2011 is arguably the toughest, one day slate of non-conference games in WIAC history.
Games coming up this weekend involving ranked teams include:
No. 1 UW-Whitewater @ No. 21 Franklin (Indiana)
UW-Oshkosh @ No. 2 Mount Union
No. 4 St. Thomas (Minnesota) @ UW-River Falls
UW-La Crosse @ No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas)
UW-Eau Claire @ No. 25 St. Johns (Minnesota)
The remainder of the schedule includes:
UW-Stout @ Jamestown (North Dakota)
UW-Platteville @ UW-Stevens Point (in-conference – non-conference game)
The WIAC is annually ranked as the No. 1 football conference in Division III. With conference teams taking on five of the current Top-25 teams in the country according to D3football.com it will be very interesting to see how WIAC teams fare this weekend.
