Latest News on Cure 54 - Art Gutierrez Fundraiser

The Cure 54 facebook page indicated Monday that Art Gutierrez has returned home following a stay MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

The former UW-Whitewater student-athlete and linebacker on the Warhawk football team is currently waging the largest battle of his life – the battle with colo-rectal cancer. This is Art’s second battle within a year with this very aggressive cancer.

According to the post, doctors would like him to come back within the month for a unique form of radiation that isn't offered in the Midwest. He needs to stay in Texas for 2-3 weeks. C.U.R.E. 54 would like to help him pay for this trip as it is very necessary for him to get the best treatment he can.

The New Berlin Ale House has generously donated their facility to allow us to hold the C.U.R.E. 54 fundraising event on Friday, August 12th. During the C.U.R.E. 54 fundraising event, we will be holding a live auction and raffle. The auction will include autographed sports memorabilia, tickets, hotel stays, golf outings and many other items donated for this great event.

This Special Announcement: Milwaukee's own Anthony "Showtime" Pettis will be at the New Berlin Ale House on August 12th from 5:30 to 6:30 to sign autographs and pose for pictures. Come out to see him and support a fantastic cause! Doors open at 5:00 and live auction begins at 6:30. Bring your friends!

A professional MMA competitor since 2007, Pettis has made a name for himself mainly fighting in his home state of Wisconsin. He is a former fighter for the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), where he was the last ever WEC Lightweight Champion. He has since signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The Cure 54 Foundation is currently seeking organizations or individuals willing to donate sports memorabilia or any other items that can be auctioned or raffled off at this event. Any help you can provide with acquiring sports memorabilia or other items to raffle will be much appreciated. We are also looking for people who are willing to sell or purchase raffle tickets.

The raffle ticket is also your ticket to get into the auction on August 12.
