Hawks host Stout in Friday Night Lights game at Perkins Stadium

What is more American than playing football under the lights on a Friday night?

Due to the 27th Annual Wisconsin School Music Association State Marching Band Championships on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at UW-Whitewater the Warhawk football team will be hosting UW-Stout Friday night at Perkins Stadium.

The UW-Whitewater-UW-Stout game will be the first game to take place under the new lights of Perkins Stadium. After a storm destroyed lights in the stadium during the off season, UW-Whitewater decided to replace all the lights in the stadium with next generation lights.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Immediately following the game fans will be treated to a postgame fireworks display at Perkins Stadium.

The theme of Friday night’s festivities at the Perk is Friday Night Lights. The free student tailgate activities prior to the game are sponsored by UWW Residence Life.

There will be a free tailgate prior to kickoff for all UW-W students with a valid school ID, located between the softball facility and the Perkins Stadium parking lot. Free food and beverages will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Students will also be able to get prepared for the game at the spirit station, where free face and body paint, beads, Warhawk tattoos, and purple and white hairspray will be offered. In addition, students can take a picture with the National Championship Trophy.

Northwestern Mutual is sponsoring a Bags Tournament as part of the FREE STUDENT TAILGATE ZONE activity Friday night. The doors for the tailgate open at 5pm and tournament to start at 5:30pm.

You must provide 4 nonperishable food items to enter and contact Leah Thyne at thynel@uww.edu to register your team of two.

Northwestern Mutual is offering cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

We’ll see you at the Perk Friday night under the lights!
