Nebraska at Wisconsin: Whitewater's Leipold had a unique view of game

What does Wisconsin Badger football, Nebraska Cornhusker football, and UW-Whitewater football have in common? How about current Warhawk head coach Lance Leipold?

Leipold played football at Whitewater and served as a graduate assistant on Bob Berezowitz's staff after using up his eligibility.

From Whitewater, Leipold made the short drive to Madison to become a graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin from 1991 to 1993. Lance was a member of Barry Alvarez's coaching staff the year the Badgers' won its first Rose Bowl title.

In 2001, Leipold served as Frank Solich's administrative assistant on the Nebraska Cornhusker's staff. That was the year the Cornhuskers made it to the Bowl Championship Series title game.

Leipold had a unique perspective Satruday night's Badgers-Corhuskers game while viewing the game just hours after his UW-Whitewater team catured its 34th consecutive victory in a 34-14 win over UW-Platteville at Perkins Stadium.

Wisconsin State Journal Badger Football "beat" writer Tom Mulhern authored an article in Sunday's WSJ that details the Leipold Whitewater-UW-Nebraska connection.
