Hawks put night moves on Stout in 42-21 win

UW-Stout threw everything it had at the two-time defending national champion UW-Whitewater football team Friday, but the Warhawks with stood it and won, 42-21.

A pair of long touchdown strikes from Ross Carey to Trevor Morning brought UW-Stout (3-3 overall, 1-2 WIAC) within seven points of the Warhawks at teh end of the third quarter.

However UW-W (6-0, 3-0) got a 26-yard touchdown run from Levell Coppage - his third of the game - and a 9-yard touchdown pass from Matt Blanchard to Bernie Tamsett to seal the game.

Coppage has now scored 92 touchdowns in his UWW football career)The win marks the Warhawks' 36th straight victory, which is the longest winning streak nation-wide in all levels of college football.

With the game tied, 7-7, after the first quarter, Whitewater exploded for 21 points in the second.

Coppage scored on runs of 4 and 23 yards and Tyler Huber caught a 31-yard pass from Blanchard for the 'Hawks other touchdown. The big quarter gave Whitewater a 28-7 halftime advantage.

Coppage finished the game with 139 yards on 22 carries, helping Whitewater out-rush the Blue Devils, 245-87.

Blanchard kept the offense balanced, posting 294 yards passing. Blanchard copleted 20-of-28 passesfor 294 yards on the game, including seven for 153 yards to wideout Luke Menzel.
