Perkins and Berezowitz watch Warhawk practice Thursday afternoon

The UW-Whitewater football team practiced in full pads Thursday afternoon. Among those on hand to watch the Hawks were legendary former UWW head coaches – Forrest Perkins and Bob Berezowitz.

Perkins, now 90 years old, possesses severely limited eyesight and relied on Berezowitz to explain to him what was happening on the practice field.

What is the old saying? Once a Warhawk, always a Warhawk??

Both Perkins and Berezowitz still have the same passion for UW-Whitewater football.

Perkins - whose UW-Whitewater coaching career spanned 29 years (1956-1984) - is second on the WSUC/WIAC coaching victory list with 190 victories.

Berezowitz is third on the list with 158 wins in a career that spanned 22 years (1985-2006).

I had the opportunity to shoot a HawkTube video with Coach Perkins in the south end zone of the UW-Whitewater football practice complex on the north end of campus Thursday afternoon.

Coming up over the weekend I will be uploading another HawkTube interview, this time with Coach Berezowitz.
