UW-La Crosse still searching for a No. 1 quarterback

T-Minus 9 days and counting until UW-Whitewater opens the season at UW-La Crosse.

The Eagles scrimmaged Loras College yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.

First-year head coach Joel Dettwiler was hoping that his starting quarterback decision would be determined.

The UWL football headline in today's La Crosse Tribune is: Eagles' QB race still wide open.

Sophomores Mike Butterfield and Andy Sires, along with freshman Josh Miska, who redshirted last season at the University of Minnesota Duluth, are the top players vying for what UWL offnsive coordinator Reed Hoskins calls a “three-horse race.”

Th Wahawks and Eagles will open the season on Saturday, September 3, with a 6 p.m. primetime game at Veterans Memorial Field on the campus of UW-La Crosse.
